Arlington, Va. – Dominion National, a leading dental insurer and administrator of dental and vision benefits headquartered in Arlington, Va., today announced expanded benefits for dental members and payments to participating dentists through the rest of the year to help cover the cost of personal protective equipment (PPE).  

Due to COVID-19, members may not have recently had access to dental care and, as a result, dentists have experienced lower patient volumes and increased costs for enhanced infectious disease control.  Dominion is offering the following benefit enhancements and support to dentists to incentivize members’ return to dental offices in 2020:

• Prevention Rewards
  As an incentive to encourage members to get back to the dentist, Dominion is offering all commercial group PPO and ePPO dental clients who receive one in-network cleaning between June 15, 2020 and December 31, 2020 a $20 cash reward. This is an enhancement to the company’s innovative Prevention Rewards program that has been tested and well received by several large group clients and was recently added to Dominion’s small group dental products.

• Increased Annual Maximum
  To help offset the time period in which members may not have been able to visit the dentist, Dominion is automatically increasing annual maximums for in-network services by 25% for all Dominion commercial group PPO and ePPO fully insured members for the remainder of 2020. 

• Teledentistry Coverage Extension
  Dominion will allow benefits for in-network teledentistry consultations through the end of the year for limited and problem-focused evaluation and re-evaluation (CDT codes: D0140, D0170 and D0171). Any teledentistry services provided after June 15th will count toward any applicable benefit frequency limitations.

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Payment for Dentists
  Dominion will provide payments to its participating dentists of $5 per in-network PPO, ePPO or Preventive covered plan visit to help with the costs of PPE, which includes N95 masks, gowns and other protective equipment designed to help with infectious disease control due to COVID-19. PPE payments will begin for services starting June 15, 2020 and may extend through the end of the year. Prevention Reward payments and PPE payments are subject to change based on state mandates and experience.

Dominion will be distributing communications to its clients announcing the applicable enhancements.
